It's a good thing that Philadelphia Eagles backup quarterback Vince Young(notes) could be seen on the sidelines in Atlanta's Georgia Dome during his team's 35-31 Sunday night loss. Young, who's recovering from a hamstring injury and was inactive in the game, would have raised many questions had he been absent. It seems that there's someone who looks very much like VY impersonating him in Washington.
According to Young's actual Twitter account, "The man that has been impersonating me is Stephan Pittman. He is dangerous. Thank you to NFL Security and Prince George['s County] Police for [yo]ur help."
"I heard that he has been taking money, taking pictures with little kids at hospitals," Young said on Monday. "It's been real sick."
EAG Sports Management, Young's representative agency, told NBC Washington that it had received a recent email about the unknown individual. According to EAG, the man had collected money in exchange for personal appearances in which he impersonated Young. The agency said that the fake Young was "conning unsuspecting women and some men into believing his scam."
"Hopefully, D.C. Police and NFL security will try and bring down this perpetrator, because he's trying to ruin my name," a obviously shaken Young said. "It's been going on for some months now — I've been getting some information about it, and I've just been letting my team take care of it. I just wanted to come out in the media so it can get in the news that this guy who is not me is perpetrating as me.
"I just want everyone to know that this is not me, and hopefully, we can bring this person down."
Because of his injury, Young was not available to play in the Eagles' loss after Michael Vick(notes) was hurt in the third quarter. Mike Kafka(notes) came in and finished the game. The Eagles signed Young to a one-year contract in August after the former first-round pick wore out his welcome with the Tennessee Titans.
To date, Young's primary contribution to the Eagles is that he appointed his new franchise the "Dream Team" after the Eagles made several big splashes in free agency.
