Cry, Whine and Moan: Cedric makes Chicago sad

"Cry, Whine and Moan" is a weekly Sunday evening feature where fans of victory-challenged teams can gather to commiserate. Feel free to vent your frustration with your team's players, coaches or management in the comments below. And please, fans of teams who aren't on the list: Leave those less fortunate alone. This post is a taunting-free zone. The losers deserve that much.

Chicago Bears: Cedric Benson(notes), worthless as a Bear and the league's leading rusher as a Bengal, had the kind of performance today that could only be born out of spite and resentment. Bears fans were already a little sensitive on the subject of Cedric, and now they're downright sick. Benson rolled the Bears for 189 yards on the ground, which is, of course, a career high. Matt Forte(notes), meanwhile, who was supposed to make everyone in Chicago forget about Benson, had another impotent day, carrying just six times for 24 yards.

Oakland Raiders: The crash back down to reality is never fun, is it? After an unlikely win over the Eagles last week, the Raiders were coldly reminded of their place in the NFL food chain by the Jets. The Raiders allowed two Jets to run for more than 120 yards, coughed up four turnovers and were doubled up in first downs.

Cleveland Browns: The saddest stat of the day might be that the Browns were unable to sack the extraordinarily sackable Aaron Rodgers(notes). It's the first game this season in which Rogers hasn't hit the turf. The Lions got him five times, and even the Rams got him twice. Cleveland, however, allowed him 246 yards and three touchdowns on just 20 attempts. Ryant Grant went buckwild on them too, with 148 yards and a touchdown.

Kansas City Chiefs: Matt Cassel(notes), with a fair amount of help from the Chiefs receivers, had a rough day: 10-of-25 for 97 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. That's not good, especially against a Chargers pass defense that's been pretty porous this season. The good news? Lance Long(notes) had a couple of receptions for the Chiefs, so maybe he can quit the pornography business soon.

St. Louis Rams: Another Rams game, another wasted Steven Jackson performance. He carried 23 times for 134 yards, and you'd think it would be hard to lose when you're getting that kind of production from the running back position. But not only did the Rams lose, they got pasted 42-6. We've got to find a way to get Jackson out of St. Louis. This isn't fair.

Carolina Panthers: How do you lose when you win the time-of-possession battle by almost 10 minutes, rack up 425 yards of offense and hold the other team to 167 yards? Turning the ball over four times is a good start.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Well, at least it wasn't the first time today that the people of England had to watch a Glazer-owned team get beat down.

The Colts got out to a big lead and didn't really try to stop the run...but yeah, poor Steven Jackson needs out of St. Louis to a real team where his production could actually help a team win.

I sent Ced Benson an email with a youtube video of Bob Sanders folding him up in the Super Bowl and a few years ago. He took that out on Chicago. GO COLTS!!

Yeah, good for Ced. He got payback. And now we're DONE with him and Cincy for 4 seasons!
Enjoy the revenge, the Bears will be too busy making an example out of your rivals, the Browns.

I was at that Rams/Colts game today... Jim Caldwell is a true humanitarian, since they got the ball back with about 40 seconds left in the 2nd quarter and decided just to let the clock run down to halftime instead of scoring another TD

Benson was a loser in Chicago. The day he was drafted, he cried because he didn't want to play for the Bears. He held out from training camp, and he then predicted he'd be ready to start in just 2 weeks. He didn't have the speed to hit the holes, or turn the corner on the outside. He was too soft, he rarely would shake off tacklers. That's why he never could break any big gains.
Watching him today, he's like a new runner. But that Cincy line manhandled the Bears today. You could have suited up 45 year-old Archie Griffin, and I'd bet he would have gained +100 today. Hearing Benson speak, he's still a loser. But the Bears do miss Tank Johnson.

forte benson. If forte had the o line that benson does, he would have 4 times as many yards as crybaby benson.

Glad to see Benson living up to his potential, but he created his own problems in Chi. The guy that put 189 on Da Bears today is a totally different player than the imposter that wore Cedric Benson's uniform in Chicago.

benson is a great running back from texas like ricky williams or earl cambell having excellent athletic skills but no direction for future growth in the NFL with a winning organization that will look after his health and welfare just another fly by nite deal with cinci. Dallas or new england maybe

After seven games I think you can pretty much give the MVP award to Peyton Manning. And the way he is playing this year you could say that he is playing the position as well as any quarterback ever has. Simply amazing.

Cedric Bustin' is still a bust.......He had a chance to win himself a Super Bowl Ring against the Colts and choked, didn't even show up for the game......and this year after the Bengals fold, Cedric Boozin' will find himself a boat to go boozin' on again....

Congrats to Cedric. I hope the Bungles end up paying him for finally playing to his potential. Based on his past I'm sure once he gets the money he will continue to play at a stellar level. He undoubtedly will never become fat, lazy and slow while partying it up on his expensive boat. After all this is the new mature Cedric.

Benson ran well and will get all the credit (for some reason) but it was Cincy's O line that b-slapped the Bears. They should get the game ball. Forte is getting credit for a sorry sorry Oline in Chicago. It's too bad but the Bears need some serious changes and it has to start with the coaching.
