Eight former AFL teams will wear 1960s throwback uniforms during "legacy games" in the 2009 season. Shutdown Corner takes a look back (or ahead, if you will) at those throwback jerseys in advance of the season. Today, we look at the 1963 Boston Patriots.

These are a strong contender for my favorite among all the AFL throwback uniforms. I'm not sure if I like them because I actually like them, or I just like them because they're what the Patriots wore when I was a wee tike, but the red makes me happy. The shoulder stripes make me happy. Pat Patriot makes me happy.
I think it's a shame that Pat Patriot doesn't exist in the NFL today. Honestly, is he not a superior logo to the Flying Elvis job that currently adorns the Patriots helmets? If Pat Patriot were to fight Flying Elvis, come on ... it's no contest. Pat has that pretty boy begging for mercy in about 15 seconds flat. He doesn't even have a torso.
You know what, let's just skip the middle man here. It's all about Pat Patriot anyway, so the Patriots should forget the throwback uniforms and just dress up like Pat Patriot. Pointy red hats, big red socks over blue boots, white pants that go down just below the knee, and big blue wool coats that are unreasonably frilly around the chest and sleeves.
I don't know if they'd be very practical in a football game, but it would be the most patriotic damn thing I've ever seen.
Many thanks to Football Uniforms Past and Present.

ITS OVER
get over it
the o-line is weak,(47 sacks)
the defence can't stop the run
thingsa change
the pats time has passed just like the cowboys,49ers,70's steelers, redskins, 60's packers
the window has closed its back to just being a good team that looses in the playoffs for a couple years
then the rebiulding begins, a couple years out of the playoffs
YOU KNOW THE DRILL, IT HAPPENS TO EVERYONE
