WHL Roundup: Polivka stops 24 as Victoria Royals shut out Prince George 3-0

VICTORIA - Patrik Polivka made 24 saves as the Victoria Royals shut out the Prince George Cougars 3-0 in Western Hockey League play Monday.

Logan Nelson scored twice for Victoria, while Austin Carroll added one on the power play.

It's the fourth straight win for the Royals (7-5-0), who kept pace just two points behind Western Conference-leading Seattle.

Brett Zarowny made 29 saves in net for the Cougars (5-5-1).

BLADES 2 WARRIORS 1

MOOSE JAW, Sask. — Alex Moodie's 40 saves were the difference for Saskatoon on the road.

Moodie was especially good in the third period, when the Blades were outshot 16-2.

Nikita Scherbak and Collin Valcourt each scored for the Blades (5-5-1).

Sam Fioretti had the lone goal for the Warriors (4-5-2), while Justin Paulic stopped 18 shots.

PATS 5 WHEAT KINGS 1

REGINA — The Pats had four unanswered goals to cut down the Wheat Kings for their fourth straight win.

Dyson Stevenson had a hat trick, Connor Gay also scored for Regina (5-5-0) and Morgan Klimchuk had a goal and three assists.

Jens Meilleur scored the only goal for Brandon (5-5-0).

Pats goaltender Dawson MacAuley made 27 saves, while Curtis Honey stopped 21 shots for the Wheat Kings.

BLAZERS 7 HURRICANES 1

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Aspen Sterzer scored twice as the Blazers crushed Lethbridge.

Chase Souto, Cole Ully, Josh Connolly, Aaron Macklin and Landon Cross also scored for Kamloops (3-7-0).

Giorgio Estephan scored for the WHL-worst Hurricanes (1-8-1), who were outshot 19-7 in the third period en route to their sixth straight loss.

Bolton Pouliot made 26 saves for Kamloops, while at the other end Corbin Boes and Christopher Tai combined to stop 32 shots.
