Which players were snubbed by 2017 NHL All-Star picks? (Video)

Before we get to the criminally under-appreciated NHL players being left out of the All-Star Game fun, it’s important to put “snubs” within context.

The current All-Star Game format mandates representatives for each team, and its divisional team format restricts those players even further since certain positions on those teams must be filled. Combine that with a desire to make sure you have the right talent to make the 3-on-3 tournament work, and now there’s even a smaller pool of players from which to choose.

So keep that in mind as you watch our video detailing three big “snubs” for the 2017 All-Star weekend, and when you hear similar arguments.

Two more “snubs” to consider: Zach Werenski, whom you can argue should have been the Columbus Blue Jackets’ rep on defense rather than Seth Jones; or, maybe you go defense with Damon Severson of the New Jersey Devils and swap out Jones for Cam Atkinson, the team’s best forward this season. And while Vincent Trocheck is going to be super fun in the 3-on-3, wither Aleksander Barkov?
