Update: Plouffe (thumb) was scratched from Friday's lineup and is likely headed to the DL, Joe Christensen of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Recommendation: Plouffe was able to take swings Thursday morning and indicated he would be able to play Friday, but the team evidently wasn't convinced his thumb was well enough to play. Manager Ron Gardenhire previously said that if Plouffe, who had missed the past five games, was not well enough to play Friday, the team would place him on the DL.
