EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- Mark Yelovich had 24 points, eight rebounds and three steals to lead SIU-Edwardsville past Southeast Missouri State 80-77 on Thursday night.
SIU-Edwardsville (6-10, 2-4 Ohio Valley) trailed 43-39 entering the second half and was down 48-39 just a minute into the second half before going on a 20-2 run capped off by a Jerome Jones 3-pointer to give the Cougars a 59-50 lead with 9:25 to go. The Cougars never trailed from that point on.
Jones ended his night with 19 points including four 3-pointers and grabbed six rebounds.
Michael Messer had 13 points including a 7 for 8 performance from the free-throw line for SIU-Edwardsville and Kris Davis chipped in with 12 points.
Corey Wilford led Southeast Missouri (11-10, 3-4) with 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting, Marland Smith had 15 points and four assists and A.J. Jones had 12 points and five rebounds.
