QMJHL Roundup: Halifax Mooseheads dominate Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in 15-5 win

CHARLOTTETOWN - The Halifax Mooseheads demolished the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies with an 15-5 victory in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Friday.

Both teams were tied at four after the first period, but Halifax (13-8-0) scored five goals in the second and six more in the third while outshooting the Huskies 47-29.

Andrew Ryan, Nikolaj Ehlers and Brent Andrews led Halifax with two goals and three assists each. Danny Moynihan and Jonathan Drouin also scored twice, while Brendan Duke, Jesse Lussier, Darcy Ashley, Matt Murphy and Austyn Hardie also scored.

Jean-Sebastien Dea scored twice for Rouyn-Noranda (10-6-2), and Marcus Power, Mathieu Lemay and Julien Nantel added singles.

Both teams needed two goalies each to finish the game. Kevin Darveau finished the game for Halifax with 17 saves after Zachary Fucale was pulled for giving up four goals on 11 shots.

In the Huskies net, Alexandre Belanger stopped 20-of-26 shots before being replaced by Carl Hozjan, who gave up nine goals on 21 shots.

SYDNEY, N.S. — The Screaming Eagles opened a 2-0 lead in the first period and never looked back.

Charles-Eric Legare, Kyle Farrell, Loic Leduc and Julien Pelletier each scored for Cape Breton (8-9-2).

Patrick Walsh had the lone goal for Acadie-Bathurst (6-10-2) in the second period.

Chase Marchand made 24 saves for the Screaming Eagles. Titan goalie Jacob Brennan meanwhile allowed all four goals on 24 shots.

WILDCATS 6 SEA DOGS 2

SAINT JOHN, N.B. — JC Campagna scored twice during a five-goal run by the Wildcats.

Mathieu Olivier, Christophe Lalonde with a short-handed goal, Ivan Barbashev and Garrett Johnston also scored for Moncton (8-11-1).

Spencer Smallman and Oliver Cooper scored for Saint John (5-11-2), which held a 2-1 lead until the Wildcats went on a roll.

Wilcats goalie Alex Dubeau stopped 26 shots, while Sebastien Auger allowed all six goals on 42 shots for the Sea Dogs.

ARMADA 7 SAGUENEENS 2

CHICOUTIMI, Que. — Seven different players scored for Blainville-Boisbriand, which padded its stats against the Sagueneens.

Marc-Olivier Roy scored and had three assists for the Armada (14-1-1), while Philippe Sanche, Danick Martel, Christopher Clapperton, Ryan Tesink, Emil Aronsson and Nathanael Halbert also scored.

Charles Hudon and Sebastien Sylvestre replied for Chicoutimi (11-9-0).

Etienne Marcoux made 21 saves for the Armada, while Julio Billia had a tough night for Chicoutimi with 28 saves on 35 shots.

FOREURS 4 REMPARTS 1

VAL-D'OR, Que. — The Foreurs' offence was too much for Quebec to handle.

Maxime Presseault, Randy Gazzola, Anthony Mantha and Louick Marcotte scored for Val-d'Or (10-8-0).

Kurt Etchegary had the lone goal for the Remparts (9-6-4).

Val-d'Or goaltender Keven Bouchard made 32 saves, while at the other end of the ice Francois Brassard stopped 42-of-45 shots.

PHOENIX 4 ISLANDERS 3

CHARLOTTETOWN — Jean-Francois Plante scored the lone goal in the shootout to lead the Sherbrooke.

Simon Desbiens scored twice for the Phoenix (7-11-2) while Jeremy Roy added a single.

Bradley Kennedy, Matej Beran and Daniel Sprong each scored for Charlottetown (10-5-2), which blew a 2-0 lead in the first period.

Phoenix goaltender Francis Desrosiers finished with 35 saves and was clean in the shootout, while Charlottetown's Antoine Bibeau stopped 36 shots.

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. — Angelo Miceli scored twice for the Tigres, who opened the game with three unanswered goals.

Jan Mandat, Carl-Antoine Delisle and Luke St-Amand also scored for Victoriaville (9-8-1).

Francis Beauvillier and Ilya Zinoviev had goals for league-worst Shawinigan (2-14-2).

Brandon Whitney made 33 saves in net for the Tigres. Storm Phaneuf meanwhile stopped 26 shots for the Cataractes.

DRAKKAR 4 OCEANIC 3

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Nicholas Halagian scored once in regulation and again to end a nine-round shootout as the Drakkar rallied past the Oceanic.

Jeremy Gregoire and Alexis Vanier also scored for Baie-Comeau (13-4-3), which forced extra time with three straight goals in the third period to tie Blainville-Boisbriand for the league lead.

Michael Joly scored twice for Rimouski (9-6-4), and Alexis Loiseau added another.

Philippe Cadorette stopped 28 shots for the Drakkar, while Philippe Desrosiers made 39 saves in the loss.
