Prout to have hearing for interference on Gudas

Dalton Prout has a date with the Department of Player Safety on Monday afternoon for alleged interference on Radko Gudas.

In Saturday’s game between the New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia Flyers, Gudas dealt a vicious, but legal hit on John Quenneville.

Prout decided that Gudas needed to answer for the hit and he laid out Gudas with a check to the sternum.

Only problem: Gudas hadn’t touched the puck before Prout hit him.

That, friends, is interference.

Prout was given a five minute major penalty for interference and tossed from the game after he got done slugging it out with Wayne Simmonds who stood up for Gudas.

Gudas had to be helped off the ice. He did not return to the game.

Prout has been suspended once before. In March 2016, he received a questionable one game ban for a ‘sucker punch’ to Nikita Kucherov.

The Flyers announced earlier on Sunday that Gudas was out of the lineup against the New York Rangers with an upper-body injury and is considered ‘day-to-day.’

Philly needs to beat the Rangers to keep their playoff hopes alive.
