One team is viewed as the safest choice for those Week 3 NFL survivor pools

It’s been an entertaining start to the 2022 NFL season with multiple upsets and some incredible finishes.

That’s fun for the casual NFL fan, but it’s been a brutal time for bettors, especially those in a survivor pool.

Here are a couple of examples from Twitter of how bad it’s been.

If you’re one of the smart (or lucky) ones to have survived this far, here is who gambling gurus are saying to pick in Week 3. The Chargers are getting the most love this week, but a couple other teams are seen as a good bet, too.

The Athletic’s Derek Tate sees the Chiefs as the second-best choice this week behind the Chargers (who play the Jaguars).

This is part of what Tate wrote: “Unfortunately for Indy, the task will not get any easier this week. On Sunday, they will welcome the one and only Patrick Mahomes to Lucas Oil Stadium, who is 2-0 without the services of Tyreek Hill in 2022. Some will fairly point out that Mahomes got away with a few passes that could’ve, and probably should’ve resulted, in interceptions against the Chargers last Thursday night. However, the fact remains that Mahomes will be facing off against a Colts defense that has generated just three sacks and no interceptions through two games. If you can’t pressure or turnover Mahomes and the offense is struggling to put up points, it becomes very hard to see a path to victory for the struggling Colts.”

The Chargers are the pick for BJ Ruddell of Pro Football Network. Here is an excerpt of what he wrote: “Now, this assumes Justin Herbert will play, though it doesn’t assume Keenan Allen will. All we need are Herbert, Austin Ekeler, and an above-average receiving corps led by Mike Williams, and that should be enough to hold off Jacksonville.”

The Vikings are the choice from The Action Network’s Jackson Cowart. This is a passage from his story: “If Kirk Cousins has more time to throw than he did on Monday, Minnesota should have no issue moving the ball against a Lions defense allowing the second-most points per game (32.5) through two weeks. I also wouldn’t be scared of Detroit quarterback Jared Goff, who hasn’t won a road game since his final season with the Rams in 2020. In a week with few surefire options, this is as close as it gets.”

DraftKings Nation called the Chargers’ game against Jacksonville as the safest pick. One of the trap games is the Chiefs-Colts contest. They wrote: “The Chiefs are headed to Indianapolis to face a Colts team that has been awful this year. This feels like a bounce-back spot for the Colts and one of those nutty ‘any given Sunday’ type of games.”

Yahoo Sports’ Greg Brainos sees the Eagles game against the Commanders as the pick to make. Here is part of what he wrote: “The Commanders are surrendering an absurd 7.5 yards per carry through two weeks. Philadelphia’s offense ranks fifth in that category (5.2 ypc) and first in yards per passing attempt (9.1 ypa). MVP candidate Jalen Hurts and the Eagles will have no problem putting up points against a porous Washington defense allowing 29 points per game.”
