OHL Roundup: Fabbri and Bertuzzi lead the Storm to their ninth straight victory

GUELPH, Ont. - Robby Fabbri scored three times and added an assist as the Guelph Storm doubled up the visiting Kitchener Rangers on Friday 6-3 in Ontario Hockey League play.

Tyler Bertuzzi had a goal and four assists for the Storm (14-3-0), who extended their win streak to nine games, and Ben Harpur scored two goals.

Ben Thomson, Brent Pedersen and Darby Llewellyn supplied the scoring for the Rangers (4-9-0), who dropped their fifth game in a row.

Guelph's Justin Nichols made 35 saves for the win. Tyson Teichmann started in goal for Kitchener but was pulled after giving up three goals on 17 shots in the opening 14 minutes. Jordan DeKort replaced Teichmann and turned away 20-of-23 shots, but picked up the loss.

KINGSTON, Ont. — Barclay Goodrow scored twice and added an assist as North Bay downed the Frontenacs.

Mathew Santos, Nick Paul and Mike Amadio also scored for the Battalion (9-7-1) while Dylan Blujus chipped in with two assists.

Lawson Crouse scored the lone goal for Kingston (9-4-3) as Roland McKeown went a team-worst minus-4.

North Bay's Brendan O'Neill made 33 saves as Lucas Peressini turned away 31 shots for the Frontenacs.

ST. CATHERINES, Ont. — Mackenzie Blackwood stopped all 31 shots in his direction as Barrie handed Niagara its fourth loss in a row.

Andreas Athanasiou and Kevin Labanc each scored on the power play for the Colts (7-8-1) while Cordell James and Andrew Mangiapane added even-strength goals.

IceDogs (5-8-3) forward Carter Verhaeghe had his 15-game point streak snapped in the loss.

Niagara's Brent Morin stopped 18 shots.

STING 4 GREYHOUNDS 3

SARNIA, Ont. — Bryan Moore scored the eventual winner at 13:16 of the third period and added two assists as the Sting edged Sault Ste. Marie.

Nickolas Latta had two goals for Sarnia (5-10-1) and Nikolay Goldobin also had a goal and two assists.

Trent Mallette, Alex Gudbranson and Tyler Gaudet scored for the Greyhounds (11-2-2), who lost in regulation for the first time in nine outings.

Sting netminder Brodie Barrick made 26 saves for the victory. Sault Ste. Marie's Matt Murray turned away 21 shots in defeat.

SPIRIT 6 ATTACK 3

SAGINAW, Mich. — Eric Locke had two goals and two assists as the Spirit doubled up Owen Sound.

Kristoff Kontos scored once and set up two others for Saginaw (8-6-2) while Terry Trafford and Cody Payne had a goal and an assist apiece. Dylan Sadowy added a single goal.

Kyle Hope led the Attack (8-7-2) with a goal and two assists and Kurtis MacDermid and Chris Bigras each scored once.

Nikita Serebryakov made 39 saves for the Spirit. Brandon Hope started in goal for Owen Sound but was pulled after allowing three goals on seven shots in 20 minutes of action. Jack Flynn stopped 15-of-17 in relief.

KNIGHTS 4 WOLVES 1

LONDON, Ont. — Anthony Stolarz won the goaltending battle by stopping 33-of-34 shots as the Knights defeated Sudbury.

Franky Palazzese turned away 45-of-48 shots for the Wolves, including 28 through the first 40 minutes to keep the game close.

Ryan Rupert and Chris Tierney each had a goal and an assist for London (9-5-1) while Max Domi and Matt Rupert scored the others.

Nathan Pancel supplied the offence for Sudbury (5-4-6).

STEELHEADS 4 WHALERS 2

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — The Steelheads scored three unanswered goals in the third period to come from behind and beat Plymouth.

Dylan Smoskowitz scored twice in the third period for Mississauga (9-7-1) while Andrew Goldberg's goal stood as the eventual winner. Nick Zottl scored in the second period and tacked on an assist.

Zach Lorentz and Ryan Hartman scored for the Whalers (7-11-0).

Spencer Martin made 29 saves for the Steelheads' victory as Plymouth's Alex Nedeljkovic turned away 29 shots in defeat.
