OHL Roundup: Bailey scores winner as Rangers snap eight-game winless streak

OTTAWA - Justin Bailey scored in regulation, and had the deciding goal in a shootout to lift the Kitchener Rangers to a 4-3 victory over the Ottawa 67's in Ontario Hockey League action on Sunday.

Brent Pedersen and Nick Magyar also scored for Kitchener (5-11-1), which snapped an eight-game winless streak.

Travis Konecny had a three-point game with a goal and two assists for the 67's (7-11-1), while Brett Gustabsen and Alex Lintuniemi had the other Ottawa goals.

Phillippe Trudeau stopped 48 shots in defeat while Kitchener's Matthew Greenfield made 24 saves for the victory.

STEELHEADS 4 STING 3

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Sam Babintsev scored his fifth goal of the season at 13:08 of the second period to lift the Steelheads over Sarnia.

Trevor Carrick, Andrew Goldberg, and Bobby MacIntyre also scored for Mississauga (12-8-1), while Jared Walsh added two assists.

Craig Duininck had a goal and an assist for the Sting (5-14-1). Erik Robichaud and Nikita Korostelev rounded out the Sarnia offence.

Sarnia goaltender Brodie Barrick was pulled in the second period after allowing all four goals on 20 shots. Taylor Dupuis made 22 saves in relief while the Steelheads' Spencer Martin stopped 17 shots for the win.

BATTALION 2 ATTACK 1 (SO)

NORTH BAY, Ont. — Vincent Praplan, Alex Henriksson and Barclay Goodrow all scored in the shootout as the Battalion edged Owen Sound.

Goodrow had a power-play goal for North Bay (10-11-1) with less than two minutes left in the third period to force overtime.

Brendan O'Neill made 28 saves in regulation and overtime to earn the win.

Kyle Hope gave the Attack (9-9-3) a 1-0 lead in the second period. Jack Flinn stopped 36 shots in net.

KNIGHTS 3 SPITFIRES 1

WINDSOR, Ont. — Anthony Stolarz stopped 34 shots and London scored three times in the third period to snap the Spitfires' seven-game win streak.

Brett Welychka had a goal and an assist for the Knights (12-5-2) while Tim Bender and Kyle Platzer added a goal each.

Brady Vail supplied the scoring for the Spitfires (11-7-0).

Windsor's Dalen Kuchmey turned back 33-of-36 shots in defeat.

GENERALS 6 BULLS 5 (SO)

OSHAWA, Ont. — Michael Dal Colle scored the shootout winner as the Generals downed Belleville.

Aidan Wallace and Brian Hughes each had a pair of goals for Oshawa (16-4-1) while Bradley Latour had a goal and an assist.

Michael Cramarossa, Remi Elie, Brendan Gaunce, Luke Cairns and Garrett Hooey scored for the Bulls (4-12-4).

Daniel Altshuller made 36 saves for the Generals. Charlie Graham turned away 39 shots for Belleville.

SPIRIT 9 FRONTENACS 4

KINGSTON, Ont. — Justin Kea and Dylan Sadowy each scored twice and Eric Locke had a goal and three assists as Saginaw hammered the Frontenacs.

Jimmy Lodge scored once and set up two more for the Spirit (11-7-0) while Cody Payne, Andrey Alexeev and Zach Bratina registered a goal apiece.

Ryan Kujawinksi, Samuel Schutt, Conor McGlynn and Spencer Watson supplied the scoring for Kingston (10-6-3).

Jake Paterson made 37 saves for Saginaw as Matt Mahalak allowed nine goals on 38 shots for the Frontenacs.
