NHL Three Stars: Saros, Dell notch first NHL shutouts

No. 1 Star: Juuse Saros, Nashville Predators

The rookie goaltender stopped all 25 shots on goal in a 4-0 win over the St. Louis Blues on Friday. With the victory, Saros improved to 3-2-1 with a 1.16 goal-against average and .957 save percentage. The shutout was Saros’ first of his NHL career.

No 2 Star: Aaron Dell, San Jose Sharks

The 27-year-old Dell picked up the first shutout of his NHL career in his fifth start with a 21-save performance in a 2-0 win over the Philadelphia Flyers. Dell became the 18th different goaltender in Sharks history to record a regular season shutout. With the victory, the Pacific Division leading Sharks improved to 8-2-0 in their last 10.

No. 3 Star: Henrik Sedin Vancouver Canucks

Sedin fired the overtime winner in his team’s 3-2 comeback victory over the Anaheim Ducks. Sedin’s overtime winner was his sixth of his career, tying Mattias Ohlund for fourth-most in Canucks history. Sedin has picked up at least one point in five straight games against the Ducks.

Honorable Mention: Predators forward Viktor Arvidsson scored a gorgeous goal in his team’s win. … Nashville forward Filip Forsberg scored a goal and added an assist. … Predators forward Colin Wilson scored his sixth goal of the season. … Nashville defenseman Yannick Weber scored his first goal of the season. … Predators forward Mike Ribeiro notched two assists. … Carolina Hurricanes forward Jay McClement scored the game-winning goal in his team’s 3-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks … Hurricanes forward Elias Lindholm scored his fourth goal of the season. … Carolina goaltender Cam Ward stopped 27 of 29 shots on goal. … Blackhawks forward Jonathan Toews notched two assists. … Chicago defenseman Michal Kempny scored a goal and added an assist. … Sharks forward Patrick Marleau scored his 10th goal of the season and added an assist in the win over the Flyers. … San Jose defenseman Justin Braun scored his second goal of the season. … Sharks forward Joe Pavelski notched an assist. … Flyers goaltender Anthony Stolarz stopped 21 of 22 shots on goal in relief of injured starter Steve Mason. … Vancouver forward Loui Eriksson scored his eighth goal of the season and added an assist. … Canucks forward Jack Skille scored his fourth goal of the season.

Did you know? Canucks forward Alex Burrows played in his 800th NHL game on Friday. All of Burrows’ games have been played with Vancouver. Only Markus Naslund, Stan Smyl, Trevor Linden, Daniel Sedin and Henrik Sedin have played more games with the franchise than Burrows.

Dishonorable Mention: Since a 10-game winning streak, the Flyers have gone 1-3-1. … Blues goaltender Jake Allen was pulled after allowing three goals on 14 shots on goal.
