NHL Three Stars: Kuznetsov busts scoring slump

No. 1 Star: Evgeny Kuznetsov, Washington Capitals

Kuznetsov scored a goal and added three assists in the Capitals’ 6-5 overtime win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. The forward hadn’t scored a goal since Nov. 23 and has just 23 points in 37 games this year after 77 points in 82 games last season. The win over Toronto was his first multi-point game since Dec. 13.

No. 2 Star: Alexander Radulov, Montreal Canadiens

The former Nashville Predators forward notched two assists against his old team, including the primary helper on Max Pacioretty’s overtime winner in a 2-1 victory. Throughout the night the winger was booed non-stop by Predators fans in his first game against the franchise that drafted him in 2004. He has 28 points in 36 games this season, his first full year in North America since 2007-08 with Nashville.

No. 3 Star: Nikolaj Ehlers, Winnipeg Jets

Ehlers scored two goals and added an assist to help his team to a 6-4 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning. One of his goals came on a penalty shot. The victory broke a two-game losing skid for the Jets and pulled them to within a game of .500. The 20-year-old Ehlers has 34 points in 40 games this season.

Honorable Mention: Canadiens defenseman Shea Weber scored his 10th goal of the season in his first game against his former team. Weber’s goal tied the game in the third period and helped send it to overtime. … Pacioretty’s goal in the extra session was his 16th of the season. … Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne stopped 41 of 43 Canadiens shots on goal. … Jets center Mark Scheifele scored a goal and added an assist. … Winnipeg winger Patrik Laine scored a goal and added two assists. … Jets defenseman Jacob Trouba scored a goal and added an assist. … Jets forward Blake Wheeler notched two assists. … Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov scored two goals and added an assist. … Tampa forward Tyler Johnson and defenseman Victor Hedman each notched two assists. … Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 21 of 22 shots on goal in a 3-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers. The victory was Columbus’ 16th straight, one behind the 1992-93 Pittsburgh Penguins for most consecutive wins in NHL history. . … Blue Jackets Forward William Karlsson scored the game-winner. … Columbus forward Cam Atkinson scored his team-leading 18th goal of the season. … Blue Jackets captain Nick Foligno scored a goal. … Washington captain Alex Ovechkin scored the overtime winner in his team’s win over the Maple Leafs. This tied Jaromir Jagr for the most regular season overtime goals in NHL history at 19. … Capitals forward Justin Williams scored a goal and added two assists. … Washington forward T.J.
