College Basketball Roundtable: There's no consensus on best senior available in NBA draft

At the College Basketball Roundtable each week, we ask members of the coverage staff their opinions about a current topic in the sport.

This week's question: Which senior do you think should be the first taken in the NBA draft, which is June 28?

Mike Huguenin's answer: I don't think any senior is going to be selected in the lottery and I think North Carolina C Tyler Zeller will be the first senior taken. But I like Michigan State F Draymond Green the best among the seniors. He does everything well; he can pass, score, defend, rebound and handle the ball. I don't think Green is going to be a star, but I think he can be a valuable complementary player for a long time thanks to an extremely high basketball IQ and his solid all-around game. If he falls a long way in the first round, a playoff team will be able to grab him and get good production right away. I also think Zeller can be an effective NBA player, but I don't think he can do as many things as Green.

Steve Megargee's answer: I don't think any of the seniors in this year's draft class have star potential, but the height and post skills of North Carolina's Tyler Zeller should allow him to find a home in the NBA as a role player at the very least. I think Michigan State's Draymond Green has the best all-around game of any senior, but I'm not sure the 6-foot-7 forward is big enough to succeed at the next level. I do like Vanderbilt forward Jeffery Taylor's upside, and I wonder if his game might be better-suited for the NBA than college, but his relative lack of consistency makes me shy away from him. That gives Zeller the slight edge over St. Bonaventure forward Andrew Nicholson as the top senior available in this year's NBA draft.
