Former FC Dallas captain Daniel Hernandez has called it quits after a 15-year professional career that included stints with several MLS and Mexican top flight teams.
Hernandez, 36, a native of Tyler, Texas, who played his college soccer at SMU, will transition immediately into a coaching role with Dallas.
“Being able to play out the past four seasons of my MLS career in front of my friends and family here in Dallas has been very memorable,” said Hernandez. “I am excited to start the next phase of my MLS career with FC Dallas.”
After being drafted in 1998 by the LA Galaxy and starting his career with that club, Hernandez spent time in MLS with Tampa Bay, New York and New England in MLS as well as stints with Necaxa, Puebla and Jaguares de Chiapas in Mexico.
