Czechs beat Canada West 5-2 at world under-17 hockey challenge

SYDNEY, N.S. - David Kase had two goals and Daniel Vladar made 32 saves to lead the Czech Republic to a 5-2 win over Canada's West team at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge on Tuesday.

Daniel Krenzelok, Filip Chlapik and Filip Dvorak also scored for the Czechs, who improved to 2-1-0-0, while Simon Stransky added two assists.

Jayden Halbgewachs of Emerald Park, Sask., and Winnipeg's Keegan Kolesar scored for the West (0-2-0-0). Tyson Verhelst made 13 saves.

RUSSIA 7 GERMANY 2

Artur Tyanulin scored twice and added two assists to lead Russia past Germany.

Denis Alekseev, Denis Tsukanov, Ivan Emets, Denis Gurianov and Dmitry Zhukenov also scored for Russia. Zhukenov also added a pair of assists while Nikita Kolesnikov made 26 saves.

Philipp Halbauer and Lois Spitzner scored for the Germans, who got 36 saves from Cody Brenner.

Russia improved to 1-1-0-0 at the tournament while Germany fell to 0-3-0-0.

UNITED STATES 9 ATLANTIC 1

The Americans scored six unanswered goals en route to a rout of Atlantic.

Jeremy Bracco scored twice for the U.S. (3-0-0-0), with singles coming from Auston Matthews, Colin White, Luke Kirwan, Luke Kunin, Christian Evers and Christian Fischer.

Kyle Ward scored the lone goal for Atlantic (0-2-0-0) in the third period.

Michael Lackey stopped 20 shots for the U.S., while Atlantic's Frederic Foulem allowed all nine goals on 55 shots.

SWEDEN 3 QUEBEC 2

Felix Sandstrom stopped 49 shots and Sweden went on to beat Quebec in a shootout.

Joel Ek Eriksson and Oliver Erixon scored in regulation for the Swedes (1-0-1-0).

Nicolas Roy and Anthony Beauvillier replied for Quebec (1-1-0-1).

Quebec's Olivier Tremblay did his part with 41 saves.
