Chris Stewart accidentally smacks Zach Parise in the face (Video)
In the second period on Sunday night, Chris Stewart of the Minnesota Wild did what he’s paid to do: Jabbing incessantly with his stick as San Jose Sharks goalie Martin Jones attempted to cover it.
Then Chris Stewart did another thing he’s paid to do, which is to shove back when Marc-Edouard Vlasic of the Sharks pushed him away. Alas, his glove was actually shoved off of Joel Ward and then right into the face of teammate Zach Parise, and uncomfortable hilarity ensued:
Oh dear.
Well, luckily for Parise, this wasn’t a full-velocity Chris Stewart smack. And after the Wild’s 3-1 win, everyone was able to have a laugh about it.
Stewart on punching Parise: It’s chippy at the front of the net. So, I just was making sure he was into the game. I thought I’d wake him up

This was, of course, made funnier by the fact that Parise opened the scoring at 11:06 of the first period.
