Former U.S. Marine, Brian Stann, put on an impressive performance in his last outing against Alessio Sakara, knocking out the Italian 2 minutes and 26 seconds into their "UFC on Fuel TV 2" encounter.
However, he'll be in for a much tougher test when he faces Michael Bisping at UFC 152.
Bisping is a well-rounded MMA fighter, and he's been around the sport a bit longer than Stann. The brash British fighter is a competent striker, and his grappling skills are often underrated. Bisping held his own against, Chael Sonnen (the former number one contender in the middleweight division), at "UFC on Fox 2," and many - myself included - thought he was the rightful winner ("The American Gangster" was awarded with the unanimous decision).
Given how lost Stann looked on the ground when he faced Sonnen at UFC 136, he might find himself in serious trouble if he ends up on his back.
Even though the fight between the two favors Bisping on paper, Stann doesn't seem intimidated in anyway. "The All-American" is glad to have the opportunity to face a top caliber opponent like Bisping, and he's hoping he'll be able to keep the fight standing.
"I absolutely want to test his chin," Stann said during a UFC 152 pre-fight interview. "Everybody I fight, anybody who's stood with me, the fight doesn't last long. The UFC title has always been on my sights. I'm not doing this for any other reason; I'm in this to be a champion. I'm not here to waste time, I'm not here to just say I'm a UFC fighter and wear a cool t-shirt. I want to be the world champion period. In order to be the world champion, I gotta go beat Michael Bisping, and I got to beat him and make a statement. I'm going to finish him."
