Brandon Prust on return: 'Right now, I’d take a job anywhere'
The Vancouver Canucks wanted to get younger after the All-Star break so that meant goodbye to Brandon Prust and his poor season.
Now an unrestricted free agent, Prust is keeping his door wide open.
“Right now, I’d take a job anywhere,” he told TVA Sports on Monday.
Prust was in London, Ont. on Monday to make a $100,000 donation to support the Ivey Special Eye Examination Services Vision Screening Research Program at St. Joseph’s Health Care London. The donation was on behalf of his foundation.
Prust, 32, managed only 35 games last season with the Canucks scoring one goal and recording seven points. He was hampered by an ankle injury that he said he came back too early from. After undergoing off-season surgery he began skating last week.
Coming off a poor season Prust will likely have to earn a deal somewhere through a training camp invite or hope some holes develop in a lineup somewhere that would require his services.
“My goal isn’t to start in the AHL,” Prust said. “I would like to go to camp and just be able to prove I still belong.”
