Montreal Canadiens pest Andrew Shaw had been out since with Dec. 12 with an concussion before making his return against the New York Rangers on Saturday night.

Just think of all the ill-advised, impulse control problem plays that absence cost us.

Because in his first game back, Shaw nailed Jesper Fast of the Rangers with a blindside hit in the first period, and then fought J.T. Miller in its aftermath.

Shaw was given a major for interference, five for fighting and ejected from the game.

This completed a short (5:19 time on ice) but eventful game for Shaw, mostly involving interference against the Rangers.

A Phillip Danault goal was overturned on video review thanks to Shaw falling into Rangers goalie Antti Raanta.

Later, another interference penalty on Shaw, against Ryan McDonagh, had just ended with the Rangers cored their first goal.

The Canadiens ended up winning a wild game, 5-4, which included them scoring three goals in 62 seconds in the third period.

So is this a suspension for Shaw? Fast, it should be said, stayed in the game and ended up playing 13:42. Doesn’t mean there might be an injury that develops after the game, but that was the immediate aftermath.
