Recommendation: Bynum has had setback after setback in his recovery, but this latest news would be the worst-case scenario for fantasy owners. One orthopedic surgeon who spoke with the Delaware News Journal speculated that Bynum is dealing with osteochondritis dissecans lesions, which could sideline the star center for at least four months - if not longer. "While they can heal non-operatively, they can take a long time (4-to-6 months) to heal, and in adult athletes, frequently they will require surgical intervention at some point if there isn't adequate healing within the first several months of treatment," the surgeon said. We probably won't know for certain how long Bynum will be out until December at the earliest, putting owners in an awkward position. If your bench is deep enough to stash him, do so, but owners in shallower formats should probably start shopping around for potential replacements.
