With an interception and blocked punt returned for touchdowns in the first half, Utah's defense and special teams put this one away before the offense got in on the fun. Sean Smith returned an interception 25 yards for a touchdown four minutes into the game, and Matt Asiata ran for a touchdown and caught another as the 14th-ranked Utes beat punchless Wyoming 40-7 on Saturday.

The punchless Cowboys (2-4, 0-3 Mountain West Conference) will try to put an end to a three-game losing streak Saturday when it entertains Utah (6-0, 2-0) at War Memorial Stadium.

Wyoming was 5-4 last season, having blown a 21-0 lead in a loss to San Diego State. On the following Monday before the Utah game, coach Joe Glenn tried to rally community support when he guaranteed a victory in a speech to a group of fans on campus. That guarantee became public, however, and the Utes dismantled the Cowboys 50-0.
