The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the school has not announced the decision. A news conference is scheduled for later in the day.

The last time Willie Taggart interviewed for the head coaching position at Western Kentucky back in 2002, the former Hilltopper star knew he had no shot of landing the job. "I was 25. It wasn't going to happen," Taggart said. "But I wanted to go through the process." Seven years later, Taggart didn't give his alma mater a chance to say no.
