Justin Roper returned from a concussion and helped No. 18 Oregon to a school-record 688 yards in a 66-24 rout of Utah State on Saturday. LaGarrette Blount ran for 132 yards and two touchdowns for the Ducks, taking on the bulk of the rushing duties after Jeremiah Johnson left with a shoulder injury on the Ducks' first series of the game.

Utah State deserves some credit for how it's performed in its last three games. A program that has lost 11 of its last 13 games, dating back to the start of last season, has actually won two of three. And every one has been on the road.

The trend continues Saturday with a trip to nationally ranked Oregon, which opened its season with an easy home win against Washington. This is an annual "money game" that the Aggies need to keep the program and athletic department fueled.

The Ducks have shown a penchant for picking on opponents' mistakes, and that could be trouble for USU, which looked good in the stats column in a season-opening loss Aug.

UNLV surges past Utah State for 27-17 win (AP)

UNLV quarterback Omar Clayton threw for three touchdowns and 192 yards to lead the Rebels past Utah State 27-17 Saturday night in the teams' season opener. Clayton completed 17-of-29 passes with no interceptions, a career high. Running back Frank Summers rushed for 87 yards on 14 carries for the winners.
