Texas Tech Team Report May 1, 2008

Mike Leach was so displeased with Texas Tech's spring game that he made them do it all over again 24 hours later.

With so many returning starters on offense -– including quarterback Graham Harrell and unanimous All-America wide receiver Mike Crabtree -– the focus for most of the spring has been on defense.

The defense picked up its intensity in the second scrimmage and Leach hopes that is a starting point when the team returns for fall practice.

The Red Raiders have been to eight bowl games in Leach's eight years, but they've never won a Big 12 Conference championship, or finished first in the South Division.

If Tech is going to overtake powers Oklahoma and Texas in the South, the defense will lead the way.
