All season, Oklahoma has been trying to hang on, trying find its way, trying to reach the peak, whatever that might be.

All season, its defense had played very well, even when the Sooners lost. And when the Sooners lost, they were always close. One point to BYU, one point to Miami, three points to Texas and seven to Nebraska.

Until Saturday at Texas Tech.

It's as though OU did everything it could do for so long just to hang around ... and then the Sooners fell off the cliff. The Red Raiders crushed the Sooners 41-13 in a game that was as lopsided as the score indicates.

The Sooner defense brought very little. Tech racked up 32 first downs, 549 yards of offense, and had a 14-minute edge in time of possession.
