Notre Dame reached the mid-point of its season well within reach of a bowl game and increasingly relying on its passing game.

The Irish are 4-2 as they prepare for an Oct. 25 game at Washington and beleaguered former ND coach Tyrone Willingham. There are some tough games the rest of the way—vs. Pitt, at Boston College and especially at USC—and you can't forger Navy, which beat Notre Dame last season.

The Washington game and Syracuse home game on Nov. 22 provide the best opportunities to get to bowl eligibility ... although finishing with just six victories would be a disappointment given the progress over the first half of the season.
