Tommy Davis returned the opening kickoff 86 yards for a touchdown, and Chad Spann ran for a career-high 174 yards and two scores to help Northern Illinois rout winless Eastern Michigan 50-6 on Thursday night. The Huskies couldn't have picked a better late-season schedule. A team filled with underclassmen, the Huskies get the benefit of one of the easiest schedules in the history of college football.

After falling to Toledo, the Huskies set sail on a smooth four-game stretch of games against Miami-Ohio, Akron, Eastern Michigan and Ball State. Northern Illinois sophomore quarterback Chandler Harnish suffered an injury against the Rockets, paving the way for sophomore DeMarcus Grady to get valuable experience against inferior opponents.

The Huskies defeated Miami-Ohio and Akron to improve to 5-3 and 3-1 in the MAC West Division. The RedHawks and Zips have combined to win two games this season. ...More
