As North Carolina State prepares for a free weekend, the Wolfpack will be looking to shore up its line play before the team takes on Florida State on Oct. 16.

It's a huge game on national television against a high-profile squad that NCSU has had a lot of success against recently. The Seminoles may have just beaten Miami on the road, but the win loses a little of its luster because FSU had to hold on for dear life after taking a big lead into halftime.

If the Wolfpack are going to impress the ESPN folks, however, it'll have to address the deficiencies that have shown up all season and were very stark against Boston College. On both sides of the ball, NCSU gives up ground on the line of scrimmage.

Chris Crane scampered around the left side for a 13-yard touchdown with 22.8 seconds left to help Boston College beat North Carolina State 38-31 on Saturday. Crane's third rushing score capped a huge day for the quarterback, who also threw for 428 yards and two scores to help the Eagles (4-1, 1-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) hold on despite blowing a 14-point fourth-quarter lead.

South Florida certainly didn't need All-American George Selvie against outmanned North Carolina State. Matt Grothe gave the Bulls' defense plenty of cushion. The 13th-ranked Bulls had an easy time of it for once, routing N.C. State 41-10 on Saturday night behind 259 yards passing, a touchdown and a perfect start from their junior quarterback.
