Yes, Missouri is a legitimate contender for the national championship.

The Tigers didn't even need to go through spring drills to establish that acclaim. Not when they return a quarterback as productive as Chase Daniel, a game-breaker as explosive as Jeremy Maclin, and a defense that returns 10 starters.

Both Daniel and Maclin are Heisman Trophy hopefuls returning off a squad that went 12-2 last season, captured the Big 12 North title and walloped Arkansas 38-7 in the Cotton Bowl.

The quest this season is for bigger stakes, an appearance in Miami at the national championship game. But Gary Pinkel enters his eighth season knowing a certain order must be realized before the Tigers can win it all.
