Houston needed a win to stay alive in the Conference USA race. Case Keenum engineered it in record-setting fashion. Keenum threw for 405 yards and five touchdowns in just more than two quarters as Houston beat Memphis 55-14 on Saturday. The injury-depleted Memphis secondary never had a chance against Houston's Case Keenum, the nation's leading passer.

Keenum passed for 405 yards (377 in the first half) and five TDs Saturday to lead the No. 24 Cougars (9-2, 5-2 C-USA) to a 55-14 rout of the Tigers (2-9, 1-6), who lost their fifth straight in outgoing head coach Tommy West's next-to-last game. Curtis Steele provided the only highlights for Memphis with 160 rushing yards and two touchdowns, but it wasn't nearly enough.

"Who I was disappointed in was our offense," West told the Commercial Appeal. "I thought our offense could keep us in this thing. I knew (Keenum) was going to put up some numbers.
