  Iowa State was forced into a position it probably should have avoided.

After scoring a late touchdown in an Oct. 4 Big 12 opener against Kansas, the Cyclones needed to recover an onside kick to extend a comeback bid. They recovered, but couldn't deliver a first down and tumbled 35-33.

  The setback was most disappointing because Iowa State blew a 20-0 halftime lead.

  "This loss hurts a lot," quarterback Austen Arnaud said after the Cyclones missed a golden opportunity to defeat a ranked opponent for the first time since 2005. Instead, they suffered a third straight loss and fell to 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the Big 12.
