It's been a while since the Idaho Vandals have felt good after playing a Western Athletic Conference game, a little more than two years to be exact.

Idaho's last conference victory came on Oct. 14, 2006. The site of that game just happens to be Ruston, La., where the Vandals head this week for a matchup against Louisiana Tech.

"We continue to improve every day, but we need our guys to feel good after a football game," Idaho coach Robb Akey said. "We're fighting and our guys are playing their tails off. They see how close they are to the edge."

The Vandals are coming off an encouraging 45-32 loss at Fresno State in which Idaho moved the ball as well as it had all season.

Colin Kaepernick threw for two touchdowns and Vai Taua ran for three more as Nevada beat Idaho 49-14 on Saturday. Nevada (3-2, 1-0 Western Athletic Conference) racked up 507 yards of total offense against the Vandals. Kaepernick went 19-of-24 for 243 yards with no interceptions, and Taua had 94 yards on 21 carries.
