Florida Atlantic will not be making a third consecutive bowl trip this season.

In a disappointing year, FAU watched its bowl eligibility hopes go down in flames Saturday in a 47-21 loss at Troy.

The Owls (3-7, 3-3 Sun Belt Conference) had another terrible day on defense. FAU gave up a program-worst 651 yards against the Trojans, surpassing the previous record of 622 yards that FAU surrendered against UAB two weeks ago.

"It was an embarrassment for our football program," FAU coach Howard Schnellenberger said.

Troy gained 408 yards in the first half, scoring on six of eight possessions to build a 33-7 halftime lead.

"I'm crushed," FAU senior linebacker Edward Bradwell said.

Brown leads Troy past Florida Atlantic 47-21 (AP)

Levi Brown threw for a school-record 477 yards and Troy clinched at least a share Saturday of a fourth straight Sun Belt championship with a 47-21 win over Florida Atlantic. Brown, who went 27-for-36, threw for his third 400-yard game of the season. He broke his own school record of 469 yards, set against North Texas Oct.

Florida Atlantic defeats Arkansas State 35-18 (AP)

Jeff Van Camp threw three touchdown passes to lead Florida Atlantic over Arkansas State 35-18 on Saturday. Alfred Morris rushed for two scores and caught a touchdown pass for the Owls (3-6, 3-2 Sun Belt Conference), who won their first home game of the season. Van Camp was 18-for-27 for 242 yards in his second start at quarterback this season, replacing the injured Rusty Smith.
