The Broncos showed progress during spring ball, but they didn't really solve any issues.

Senior Bush Hamdan and freshman Kellen Moore emerged as the leading candidates at quarterback. They posted similar numbers in the three scrimmages, with Hamdan a bit steadier and Moore a bit more explosive.

Moore might have an edge because of his ability to learn the position so quickly.

"For a freshman, he probably is as good as we've had around here since I've been here," said head coach Chris Petersen, who joined Boise State in 2001. "The thing that's interesting about it is, when we play in the fall, it can't be 'It's good for a freshman.' It needs to be, 'This is the level we need to play at to win.' "
