Ball State showed how much it has to improve next season in order to regain a spot in the mix for supremacy at the top of the Mid-American Conference West championship race.

The Cardinals lost 35-3 to West champion Central Michigan at home on Nov. 18, and the game wasn't that close.

Ball State was held without a touchdown for the first time this season, managed only 231 yards of total offense and converted 2-of-11 third downs. On defense, they gave up 344 yards through the air and four touchdown passes by Chippewas quarterback Dan LeFevour, who completed 25-of-28 passes.

Dan LeFevour threw four touchdown passes, ran for a fifth score and became the all-time leading passer in Mid-American Conference history as he led Central Michigan to a 35-3 victory over Ball State on Wednesday night. The senior quarterback ignored a steady rain to complete 25 of 28 passes for 344 yards and no interceptions before taking a seat midway through the fourth quarter.

Quarterback Chandler Harnish threw a touchdown pass in his first appearance in nearly a month as Northern Illinois topped Ball State on Thursday. The Huskies (7-3, 5-1 Mid-American West) won their fourth straight while the Cardinals (1-9, 1-5) dropped their sixth game by seven or fewer points. Harnish had missed three games with a knee injury.
