Arizona State used its third starting quarterback of the season, but that wasn't the answer.
The Sun Devils committed six turnovers—four from sophomore quarterback Samson Szakacsy—and lost at UCLA 23-13 on Saturday. That eliminated Arizona State from bowl contention as it fell to 4-7 overall and 2-6 in the Pac-10 with only one game to play.
The Sun Devils finish their season at home Saturday against rival Arizona.
"You couldn't tell us we'd be at this point at this part of the season," senior wide receiver Kyle Williams told the Arizona Republic. "But that's the way things have happened, and you can't go back and change things now. So at this point, we just keep playing for pride."
