WASHINGTON, D.C. (AP)—Three different players scored rushing touchdowns to help Bethune-Cookman defeat Howard 21-10 on Saturday.
Jameel McCleod, Daniel Rhodes and Fred McCaskill each scored rushing touchdowns for the Wildcats (5-5, 4-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Quarterback Matthew Johnson threw 6-for-8 for 80 yards.
Howard (2-8, 0-7) was led by quarterback Floyd Haigler, who threw 18-for-45 for 127 yards.
McCleod scored on a 3-yard run early in the first quarter, and Rhodes later broke a 19-yard touchdown run with 7:45 left in the first to put the Wildcats up 14-0. McCaskill’s 12-yard rushing touchdown came with 11:26 left in the third.
Bethune-Cookman outgained Howard in total yards 283-233 in the game, and the Wildcats defense recorded two sacks and an interception.
