LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP)—Quarterback Mickey Dean ran for two touchdowns and threw for one more to help give Arkansas-Pine Bluff a 49-42 win Saturday despite being outrun and outgunned by Grambling State.
Fellow Pine Bluff quarterback Josh Boudreaux helped with two scoring passes, including a 41-yard bullet to Danny Evans.
Running back Mareo Howard returned a third-quarter kickoff for 95 yards and a touchdown, and Joseph Brown intercepted a throw by Grambling State (5-4, 3-2 Southwestern) quarterback Greg Dillon, returning it 40 yards for a touchdown.
The big plays helped the Golden Lions (5-3, 3-2) overcome a Grambling State offense that outrushed and outpassed them 462 yards to 272.
Dillon was 17 for 30 for 195 yards passing and had three touchdown throws.
Cornelius Walker ran for 101 yards and a TD, and Dominic Bell picked up a blocked punt, returning it for a TD.
