NORFOLK, Va. (AP)—Dennis Brown threw two touchdowns and ran for another, sparking Norfolk State’s 41-6 rout of Howard on Saturday.
Brown was 12-for-21 with 226 yards and ran for 66 yards on 12 carries for the Spartans (4-4, 3-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Chris Bell had four catches for 138 yards and two scores. DeAngelo Branche ran for 129 yards on 19 carries.
Floyd Hagler’s 30-yard pass to Willie Carter was the only score for the Bison (2-6, 0-5), who took a 6-0 with 4:40 left in the first quarter after a blocked extra point.
Brown connected with Bell on touchdown passes of 51 and 64 yards in the first, and Justin Castellat made field goals from 27 and 31 yards away to put the Spartans up 20-6 at halftime.
Brown’s 2-yard rushing touchdown, Josh Alford’s 1-yard rushing score and Donovan Cotton’s 37-yard scamper sealed Norfolk State’s scoring in the second half.
