RICHMOND , Va. (AP)—Justin Forte scored two touchdowns and Richmond defeated Massachusetts 34-12 on Saturday.
The Spiders (7-0, 5-0 Colonial Athletic Association) intercepted the Minutemen six times and began three first-half drives inside the Massachusetts’ 27-yard line.
Patrick Weldon had the Spiders’ first interception, putting his team on the Minutemen 27. Following a 24-yard run by Eric Ward, Ben Keating gave Richmond a 7-3 lead on a 1-yard rush in the first quarter.
Ward was 8 of 20 for 52 yards and rushed for 62.
Forte finished with a career-high 28 carries for 118 yards as Richmond extended its winning streak to a Football Championship Subdivision-best 16 games and matched its best start in history.
Kyle Havens was 10 of 25 for 78 yards and four interceptions and Scott Woodward was 11 of 23 for 137 yards and an interception for the Minutemen.
