ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP)—William Ford rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns to lead South Carolina State to a 35-20 win over Florida A&M on Saturday.
Malcolm Long, who was 14-for-19 with 164 yards passing, threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Oliver Young to give the Bulldogs (5-1, 3-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) a 21-6 lead in the second quarter.
The Rattlers (4-2, 2-1) cut the lead to 21-13 on Mykel Benson’s 1-yard touchdown run in the second.
But Ford, who finished with 24 carries, scored on an 11-yard run and Donovan Richard returned an interception 47 yards for a touchdown to push the Bulldogs’ advantage to 35-13 before halftime.
Curtis Pulley finished with 320 yards passing, one touchdown and three interceptions for Florida A&M. Kevin Elliot caught nine passes for 111 yards, including a 14-yard touchdown catch. Isaac West had 113 yards receiving.
