WASHINGTON (AP)—Ke Austin-Bruce ran for a touchdown and Floyd Haigler passed for another in the first half as Howard held off Georgetown 14-11 on Saturday.
The Bison’s Will Croner intercepted an Isaiah Kempf pass at the Georgetown 18 with 2:04 left, and Howard (1-2) ran out the clock in the second annual D.C. Cup.
Austin-Bruce scored on a 5-yard run in the first quarter and Haigler, who was 15-of-30 for 134 yards, threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Sherman early in the second.
Howard stopped a 93-yard Georgetown drive at the 2 early in the fourth quarter. On Georgetown’s next possession, Kempf threw a 17-yard scoring pass to Dishon Hughes with 8:20 left.
Howard used up 6:05 on a 14-play drive that ended with Dennis Wiehberg’s third missed field goal.
Georgetown (0-4) took over on its 20, but Croner’s interception on the first play sealed the win.
