GRAMBLING, La. (AP)—Cornelius Walker rushed for a score and the Grambling State defense scored four touchdowns in its 38-17 win over Northwestern State on Saturday night.
Walker carried 18 times for 53 yards and Frank Warren added 156 yards on 12 carries for the Tigers (1-1). Greg Dillon also completed 18 of 31 passes for 144 yards and two interceptions.
The Tigers returned four of Northwestern State’s (0-2) six turnovers for scores.
Trailing 14-0 late in the second quarter, Desmond Lenard returned a fumble 37 yards for a score and Nigel Copeland’s 24-yard interception return tied the game for the Tigers.
Grambling took a 21-14 lead after Christi Anthony’s 25-yard interception return midway through the third.
The Tigers recovered a fumble in the end zone and added Walker’s TD in the fourth quarter.
