BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP)—Dane Romero ran for 124 yards and two touchdowns to lead Wofford to a 28-7 victory over Samford on Saturday.
The Terriers (8-2, 6-1 Southern Conference) jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter after Stev Davitte scored on a 3-yard run and Romero added a 2-yard touchdown. Romero, who finished with 27 carries, had a 2-yard rushing score to put Wofford ahead 21-0 in the second.
Justin Jostlin caught a 38-yard touchdown from Ben Widmyer in the third to give the Terriers a 28-point lead. Widmyer threw for 119 yards along with 36 yards on the ground.
Dustin Taliaferro completed 10 of 21 passes for 130 yards, including 53-yard touchdown pass to Riley Hawkins in the third for the Bulldogs (5-5, 3-4). Taliaferro was also sacked four times.
Mitch Clark had two sacks for Wofford.
