HAMPTON, Va. (AP)—Brian Sumlar rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown to lead Bethune-Cookman to a 17-6 victory over Hampton on Saturday.
Sumlar scored on an 1-yard run in the second quarter and McKinson Souverain added an 8-yard run in the third quarter to lift Bethune-Cookman (7-2, 4-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference).
Souverain rushed for 88 yards and passed for 64.
LaMarcus Coker led Hampton (5-4, 4-2) with 106 yards on 21 carries. Herbert Bynes was 15 of 34 for 178 yards but was sacked six times.
Matt McCutcheon kicked field goals of 45 and 35 yards for Bethune-Cookman and Carlo Turavani made field goals of 20 and 22 yards for Hampton.
