DURHAM, N.H. (AP)—Jake Phillips connected with D.J. McAuley for a 17-yard touchdown with 22 seconds left to lift William & Mary to a 38-34 win over New Hampshire on Saturday.
The Wildcats (4-1, 1-1 Coloniel Athletic Conference) went ahead 31-28 with 4:40 left in the fourth quarter when Mike Boyle caught a 34 yard touchdown pass from R.J. Toman, who threw for 305 yards and two interceptions. Toman also had a 31-yard passing score to Scott Sicko earlier in the quarter.
But the Tribe (3-2, 1-1) responded with an 11-play, 72-yard drive that was capped by Phillips’ game-winning touchdown pass to McAuley, who hah five catches for 76 yards.
Phillips finished with 310 yards passing, four touchdowns and two interceptions for William & Mary. Jonathan Grimes ran for 144 yards on 23 carries and a score on the ground.
Boyle caught seven passes for 114 yards for New Hampshire.
