Revell returns, Warhawks lead 16-3
On their longest losing streak of the season, the Warhawks have dominated he first half of play as they lead the North Texas Mean Green 16-3.
Quarterback Trey Revell made a strong return to the starting lineup after missing the past two weeks with a broken thumb. Revell hit LaGregory Sapp on the second play from scrimmage for a 46 yard pass to put the Warhawks at the North Texas 35 yard line. ULM would then end the drive with Frank Goodin’s 11th rushing TD of the season. Radi Jabour’s PAT was missed, giving ULM a 6-0 lead.
The Warhawk defense would then hold the Mean Green to a series of three and outs, but did allow North Texas to post a 30 yard Jeremy Knott field to cut the ULM lead to 6-3.
Revell would again strike for a long pass play, as he connected with senior Darrell McNeal for a 38 yard pass down to the UNT 23 yard line. The drive would stall, but Jabour would redeem himself for the missed PAT with a 44 yard kick to allow ULM to regain a six point lead.
Revell and Sapp would reconnect mid-way through the second quarter for a 12-yard TD pass to further ULM’s lead to the 16-3 half-time lead.
Senior safety Greg James finally got his first interception of the season, as he picked off freshman Mean Green quarterback Riley Dodge late in second quarter. James is now tied for the Sun Belt Conference career lead with his 14th interception in his 41st consecutive start.
