Much of the regular season didn't go as planned, but once again Northwestern State pushed itself into the Southland Tournament title game. That marks six times in nine seasons—and four years running—that the Demons made it to the conference's final two.
They just might do it again but, like last season, it appears they will have to start off as a lower seed.
NSU was a five seed last year, rolled past top seed Stephen F. Austin in the semis, but came up short against Texas-Arlington in the finals.
An encore will be a challenge. The Demons lost forward Trey Gilder, a do-it-all player. Gilder, 6-8 with the wingspan of a 7-footer, led the team with 16.4 points and 6.2 rebounds a game. ...More |
